  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup strawberry puree
  • 1 cup whipped cream for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Divide the batter into three bowls: leave one as is, mix cocoa powder into the second for chocolate, and add strawberry puree to the third.
  6. Pour each batter into separate greased cake pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.
  9. Layer the cakes with whipped cream in between and on top.
