Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground beef
1 cup diced onions
2 cups mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 cup beef broth
4 cups mashed potatoes (preferably dyed red with food coloring)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and onions over medium heat.
Add the mixed vegetables, tomato paste, beef broth, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let simmer for 10 minutes.
Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish.
Spread the red mashed potatoes over the meat mixture, creating a gory effect.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is slightly golden.
Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For an extra spooky effect, use food coloring to dye the mashed potatoes red.
Feel free to substitute ground beef with ground lamb for a more traditional shepherd’s pie.
This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
