  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • Optional glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Optional glaze: 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • Optional glaze: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix well.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the diced apples gently.
  6. Scoop the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, forming fritters.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. If desired, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters before serving.

  • For a sweeter fritter, adjust the sugar to taste.
