  • 4 ripe peaches, sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma.
  3. Pour half of the brown butter into a round cake pan and sprinkle brown sugar evenly over it.
  4. Arrange the sliced peaches on top of the brown sugar.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. In another bowl, beat the remaining brown butter with granulated sugar until fluffy.
  7. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
  8. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  9. Pour the batter over the peaches in the cake pan.
  10. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Let cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.
